Tagging Along

The only thing Hubs loves more than his car is us his camera so when my colleague and lunch buddy, Siew, asked him if he could help take some family photos and a cake smash for Jaz's 1st birthday, he was more than game for it. Bubs and I tagged along as well since her place had a nice playground.

My glittery jelly flats that I found at a store for only RM12 - so pleased with my find though Hubs thinks it's another fashion trend which he totally doesn't get.

Behind the scenes of the Siew's family photos. Bubs was in love with the wide open space and new playground so he was running amok.

Bubs found a red hibiscus for his daddy.

The skies were getting dark and threatening so we went back to her place. Bubs had a taste of being a big brother for about 30 minutes ... I don't think he liked it, he was unused to the concept of sharing and kept snatching books from her.

A couple of shots from the cake smash ... and in case you were wondering, Bubs and I snuck bites of the leftover cake, haha, while she was bathing Jaz after that. Siew kept calling us gross but it tasted really good!

Siew was contemplating baking her own cake but figured frosting it nicely would be a total pain so she went with a store bought cake.

Jaz had so much fun with the cake, she grabbed it, discovered that it was soft and creamy and proceeded to pull out baby fist sized chunks full of cake to cram into her mouth. So cute!

Currently Loving ...

Glam Girl's newborn son - Jacob. Awww, he looks so peaceful all snuggled up and fast asleep. Though I've to admit I'm particularly useless with babies and Hubs surprised me when he correctly pointed out that Jacob was hungry when he was making little smacking motions with his lips.

This custom watercolour sketch of Bubs from Etsy seller Noomie Doodles who does the most beautiful sketches. I highly recommend her - talented, communicative and extremely fast shipping. Everyone I've shown Bub's customised portrait immediately recognised him and agrees that she did a marvelous job of catching his cheekiness perfectly.

Baby V's Full Moon

Remember Baby V? Time certainly flies. It seems like just a moment ago I was fighting with my cousin over her toys and now, she's a mama with a one month old baby!

The proud parents had a mua guek (full moon celebration, no werewolves allowed) complete with yummy catered food to introduce everyone to Baby V. I love polka dots at the moment so I frocked up in this swiss dotted mini dress with a floral border.

The beaming mama and her baby. Can I tell you how amazingly well behaved Baby V is? She's all grins and happy little coos and fell asleep promptly after being rocked a few times. I'm so jealous!

Bubs sneaking a peek at the blissfully sleeping Baby V. He's fascinated by babies but still gets upset if I pay attention to any baby that isn't him. I asked K, her daddy, about the necklace she's wearing. He said it's part of Indian beliefs that it'd ward off the evil eye since so many people are bound to compliment babies. I forgot to ask about the tiny bangles that she's wearing on both arms though. Anyone knows why Indian babies usually wear those little bangles?

Baby V, Small Dragon Dumplings and the Jade Bangle part II

Mum was back in town so we went to visit my cousin J and her newborn. This time, I remembered to take photos.

Isn't baby V such a cutiepie? I was so enthralled by her that Bubs was jealous and kept trying to catch my attention. Baby V surprised me by sleeping soundly through everything. Bubs was definitely not like that as a newborn, if memory serves me right, the slightest sound woke Bubs up, even the slam of a truck door all the way down the road made him jerk.

We had dinner at Din Dai Fung after that. They are best known for their xiao long pao, (pork dumplings) literally small dragon dumplings.

These little gems are best eaten dipped with black vinegar and a garnish of thinly sliced ginger strips. When you first sink your teeth into thin and slightly chewy wrapper, you get a small burst of hot soup. Messy stuff but oh so good. That's Bubs sitting on Dad's lap so I could enjoy the xiao long bao.

The desserts are really good. I can't remember the actual name but this is shaved ice with sago seeds, dragon fruit, watermelon and honeydew. It was incredibly refreshing. When I was younger, Mum told me that sago seeds were frogspawn and I totally believed her, refusing to even touch it.

Remember the jade bangle I was wearing earlier? It turned out that Dad gave me the wrong one, LOL. This one is a fake that my aunt got Mum from Taiwan years ago which probably explains why the colour is so vivid!

This is the one that Dad was supposed to give me but got mixed up. The colour is so pale that it looks nearly white. It's also a lot smaller and less chunky. I'd have preferred for a brighter green but figured if the right one turns up one day, I'll get it!

Wooly Bully

After complaining about the lack of cool clothing choices for boys, I stumble upon these ...

How insanely cute are these Wool Monster Slippers on Etsy? Weird yet wonderful at the same time, these would be perfect for the curious baby that loves tugging at booties.
